Yes, you can leave a specific bequest in which you designate a sum of money such as $10,000, $25,000, $100,000 or more to Elderhostel.


How do I leave a portion of my estate to Elderhostel?
You can designate all or a percentage of the remainder
of your estate after all taxes, costs and specific bequests are satisfied. (This is known as a residuary bequest).

I want to provide for relatives or friends, but what if they don’t survive me? How do I leave their share to Elderhostel?

You can leave Elderhostel a contingent bequest. This states that if a relative you have provided for is not living at the time of your death, the bequest will pass to Elderhostel.

How do I designate my bequest for a specific purpose?

If you would like to designate your bequest for a specific purpose, such as scholarships or the Elderhostel endowment fund, please contact anne.forsyth@elderhostel.org so we can ensure your wishes are met.

If I already have a will, can I add a bequest to Elderhostel?

Yes, adding a bequest to Elderhostel is simple. Ask your attorney to prepare a codicil (addendum) to your will.
