This program is an opportunity to share with your grandchildren the thrill of whitewater rafting on the Colorado River in the depths of Grand Canyon and historic Prescott's 4th of July celebration, two of the highlights of summertime in Arizona. We begin exploring western Grand Canyon, home of the Hualapai Nation, whose lands include much of Grand Canyon and the only road to the bottom of the canyon. We spend a full day on the river with experienced guides, rafting 37 miles through Grand Canyon, including exhilarating, and safe, whitewater rapids and exiting the canyon via a spectacular helicopter flight to the rim. River-related activities introduce the geology and natural history of Grand Canyon. We then shift our activities to Prescott, Arizona's early territorial capital and home to the world's oldest rodeo, held annually since 1882, where we will focus on historic cowboy and rodeo activities, including attending the rodeo (and touring behind the scenes).

This program is for grandparents and their grandchildren aged 9-12 (no more than one grandchild per grandparent). Elevation at Grand Canyon Caverns is 5,400' and at Prescott is 5,300'.

Program in association with Northern Arizona University, offering educational Southwestern adventures for over 25 years.
