Grands Camp at Sagamore - photo by Dave Scranton

This special course will focus on the relationship between grandmothers and their granddaughters, with activities designed to foster the special bond between these two generations. Through music, a variety of traditional women's hand-crafts and special outdoor activities, participants will have the opportunity to learn how Adirondack traditions have passed from generation to generation.

For participants and kids ages 6-12. This program is held concurrently with a new grandfathers/grandsons program (#18557). Activities for the two programs differ. One adult must attend for each one or two youths registered. Adults and grandchildren share the same room. Adults are responsible for the supervision of their grandchildren at all times. Crafts will be age appropriate. Canoe, hike, take a virtual tour, play giant lawn games.

Program in association with Sagamore Institute of the Adirondacks.

Camp is not paved and there are stairs into most buildings.

Raquette Lake

Raquette Lake’s pristine water and wooded lakeshores are located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Great Camp Sagamore, founded by the Vanderbilt family in 1897 and now a National Historic Landmark, shares this wilderness area.
