From the bountiful waters of this island preserve to its rugged peaks and dramatic coastline, learn about Santa Catalina's marine biology, geology and indigenous land life. Engaging scientists and naturalists will share their enthusiasm about Catalina's marine wilderness, the secret sex lives of the sea's denizens, the mysteries of waves, tides and currents and demystify geology from the west's dramatic past to Catalina's amazing birth. Hands-on activities include seaweed pressing, nature printing and a surprise culinary workshop. You will also visit our touch tanks, participate in a plankton lab, visit the Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber where scuba diving accidents are treated and do a cross-island field trip.



Program in association with the University of Southern California/Wrigley Marine Science Center.



Ride free between San Pedro and Catalina Island on our school supply boat. Walk a modest 20% uphill grade from dock on arrival. We will drive your luggage to the accommodations.



Santa Catalina Island

This rocky island, home to the only permanent civilian settlement in California's Channel Islands, has a reputation as a romantic getaway and natural paradise. The island boasts a dramatic coastline, as well as unique marine and land life.
