For participants with a sense of adventure, this program is a unique opportunity to share with your grandchildren the thrill of whitewater rafting on the Colorado River in the depths of the Grand Canyon. Spend a full day on the river with experienced guides and instructors, rafting 37 miles through Grand Canyon, including a number of exhilarating, and safe, whitewater rapids and exiting the canyon via a spectacular helicopter flight to the rim at Quartermaster Point. Program activities introduce the geology, natural history, and native peoples of Grand Canyon and include several field trips in the canyon area. We will also meet local ranchers, learning of Arizona cowboy life and lore, including roping, riding and Dutch oven cookery.

This program is for participants and their grandchildren (aged 9-12; no more than one grandchild per adult). River trip via twin-pontoon motorized rafts. Nearby Peach Springs is the site of the only road to the bottom of Grand Canyon. Helicopter and raft trip participation require parental signature on a liability waiver.

Program in association with Northern Arizona University, offering educational Southwestern adventures for over 25 years.

Best air destination is Phoenix (200 miles; commercial shuttle available); alternate air destination is Las Vegas (160 miles; no shuttle).

Peach Springs

Home of the Hualapai Nation, or "People of the Tall Pine," Peach Springs is the reservation’s tribal capital, which comprises 1 million acres along the Colorado River and Grand Canyon region.
