May Festival - google images

The annual May Festival is the oldest continuous choral festival in the Western Hemisphere. The chorus, accompanied by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, offers two performances concentrating on monuments of the choral repertoire at Music Hall, built in 1878 to house the Festival. The capstone third performance is held at the visually stunning and acoustically superb Cathedral Basilica. A Musicologist will offer lectures and discussions on the music and composers of the choral tradition. Switch from sound to sight at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Taft Museum: masterpieces of Hals, Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt, Monet and more! Wrap-up the Festival with a cruise, on the Mighty Ohio River, aboard the Queen City Riverboat’s Spirit of Cincinnati.

This program now includes 3 different performances of the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus under the direction of James Conlon. The May Festival Chorus is a 150-member volunteer ensemble that has gained national and international recognition for performances in the annual May Festival and for frequent appearances with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
