A San Juan River journey reveals archaeological and geologic treasures often missed during an exploration of the Four Corners. Paddle this pristine southwest river in a fun/safe environment. Experienced guides teach you to read the river and maneuver your inflatable kayak/paddle raft as you float the San Juan. Kayaks/paddle rafts are stable, easy to learn and perfect for this moderate white water adventure or opt to relax on a guided oar boat. Enjoy lectures on native peoples & area geology; hike to archaeological sites. Visit one of the largest petroglyph panels in the Southwest; walk through a two-story Anasazi cliff dwelling only accessible by river. Includes side trips to scenic Navajo National Monument and Goosenecks of the San Juan State Park; and a drive through Monument Valley. Great meals and peaceful wilderness camping. River equipment provided, Camping equipment provided if needed. Great for first-time paddlers!

Three days of paddling in 2-person inflatable kayaks and/or 8 person paddle rafts; up to four hours of paddling each day; always have the option to relax on guided oar raft instead of paddling kayak/raft; Class II river with swift currents and moderate waves; daily hikes of one to three miles over uneven and sometimes rocky terrain.

Program in association with Northern Arizona University, offering educational Southwestern adventures for over 25 years.
