Come discover an outdoor classroom second to none in Sedona’s spectacular red rock country! This unique program is designed for physically fit, intermediate level hikers and seeks out a diversity of scenic destinations in the multi-hued canyons. Discover forests of smooth-bark cypress unique to the Sedona area, desert plants prehistoric peoples utilized for medicine and food, and ancient landscapes revealed in the area’s layer-cake stratigraphy. All instruction is field-based as participants come face-to-face with the variegated features of this world-renowned environment. Relevant archaeological, ethnobotanical, and geological information is taught by dynamic and qualified guides. Evening presentations complement field-based exploration.

Daily hikes from 3-7 miles in length with maximum net elevation change of 800’. Most trails traverse rocky terrain with occasional steep slopes; be prepared for some non-technical rock scrambling.

Program in association with Northern Arizona University, offering educational Southwestern adventures for over 25 years.

Sedona's elevation is 4,500'.
