Have you ever wondered – Are we made of cosmic dust? How was the universe created? How are stars born? Where is NASA spending our tax dollars? What are the latest findings on Mars missions and rovers? Flagstaff, the world’s first Dark Sky City, with about 100 resident astronomers and planetary scientists, has been a center for astronomical study and space research since the 1880’s. Visit Lowell Observatory, discovery site of Pluto and a leading institution for ongoing research, and Meteor Crater, the world's best preserved meteorite impact site, used for training the Apollo astronauts. Lecturers discuss planetary geology, black holes, the Mars rovers’ ongoing search for water and life, Kuiper Belt, and Hubble Space Telescope.

Program includes 2 nights of viewing. Suitable for all levels of interest.

Program in association with Northern Arizona University, offering educational Southwestern adventures for over 25 years.

Flagstaff elevation is 7,000 feet. When combined with Arizona's lack of humidity it makes for some of the clearest skies in the nation and great sky viewing.

Flagstaff

Nestled at the foot of the San Francisco Peaks in northern Arizona, Flagstaff is a perfect departure point for trips to the Glen and Grand canyons or Sunset Crater National Monument. At 7,000 feet in elevation, this cool mountain city is one of the highest in the nation.
