Immerse yourself in the beauty and grandeur of canyon country during a journey exploring the varied geology, ecology, and human heritage of Arizona’s Colorado Plateau region. Marvel at the stunning red rocks of Sedona and the lush riparian reaches of Oak Creek Canyon. Travel by rail up the wild and scenic Verde River Canyon, and wander the ancient ruins at Wupatki National Monument and through the lava flows at Sunset Crater. Raft 15 miles of the Colorado River on a tranquil smooth-water float through the towering 800’ Navajo sandstone cliffs of Glen Canyon. Explore historic Lees Ferry and delight in the off the beaten path beauty of Marble Canyon. Visit majestic south rim viewpoints in Grand Canyon National Park then travel to the very bottom of Grand Canyon in its remote western end at Diamond Creek, via a little-known road--one of Arizona’s best-kept secrets. Savor the experience with a riverside picnic lunch, deep in the Canyon, as you reflect on an unforgettable journey.



Program in association with Northern Arizona University, offering educational Southwestern adventures for over 25 years.



Itinerary

Independent arrivals by 5 p.m. in Sedona, 3 nights; van to Marble Canyon, 3 nights; van to Grand Canyon South Rim; 1 night; van to Grand Canyon Caverns, 2 nights. Direct shuttle available from Peach Springs to Phoenix after final breakfast with arrival into Phoenix by 12:30 PM, or, Exploritas van will return participants to Sedona by 11:00AM.

Sedona was historically a rural ranching community in Oak Creek Canyon. Today, the sunny city attracts visitors to its red-rock cliffs and lush evergreens, international film festival, and lively art scene.
