The 2007 grant recipient was Anna MacKay, a doctoral candidate in her final year at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Ms. MacKay is conducting her doctoral research in the neuropsychological program with a focus on gerontology.

Ms. MacKay’s research is the first step of a research plan investigating the benefits of cognitive training in healthy older adults in order to discover the mechanisms that explain cognitive improvement. This research will aid in discovering treatments to alleviate and improve the debilitating effects of age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

Ms MacKay was also the 2001 recipient of the prestigious four-year grant open to all women in any graduate program at Washington University in St. Louis.
