Despite Hurricane Isabel’s almost direct hit on Virginia Beach just one month to the day before the start of the Mid Atlantic Regional conference, the show went on, and the conference, held from October 19 – 21, 2003, was a resounding success. More than 150 people attended from 14 different states. The joke at the conference was that the Mid Atlantic Region now extends from Maine to Arizona!

A wide range of topics were discussed in the fourteen workshops and everyone went home full of enthusiasm, new information and ideas.

The conference planners from Old Dominion University ILR and the Lifelong Learning Society at Christopher Newport University did an outstanding job. Congratulations!

Following are some of the workshop papers with as much input from presenters as could be managed. Not all presenters had their material in a re-usable format. But what is contained here will be very useful to LLIs who were not able to attend the conference.
