POT LUCK RECRUITMENT TIME

Taken from the Mankato Area Lifelong Learners summer 2008 newsletter.

In August, the pot lock groups had their semi-annual all-group meeting. At that time, new groups of eight were formed. The groups are open to couples or pairs of singles. They offer a great opportunity to interact with others while enjoying delicious meals. The cooking is non-competitive – just plain, wholesome food. The fun is in the opportunity to meet new people and engage in often lively conversation. The groups meet on a four month schedule with each “couple” hosting one dinner. The hosts provide the main dish. The others bring a salad, dessert or vegetable which are assigned and rotated over the course of the four dinners.

Semi-annually, all the groups meet together. Everyone brings a main dish or salad to pass. At these meetings the new groups are announced by the three member, voluntary pot luck committee. The members meet with their new groups and set up their next four month schedule. Schedules are fairly flexible. Snowbirds who are gone from January through March can be accommodated.
