AWARDED $1MILLION GRANT
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Granite State
College in New Hampshire has been awarded a $1million grant from
the Bernard Osher Foundation. They have just opened up yet another
location in the State and more are planned. Congratulations!

KANGROO
WATCHING
Members of Learning in Retirement program, Inc. at the
University of Georgia went kangaroo watching this past spring.
They visited the Kangaroo Convention Center in Dawsonville, Georgia.
After lunch they took a guided tour to see many of the 300 kangaroos
and a wide number of rare birds and lizards before enjoying an
educational show featuring a variety of Aussie animals..

In an attempt to save money on gas, members of the Osher
Lifelong Learning Institute at Coastal Carolina University in
South Carolina can arrange carpools by calling the OLLI office

ANOTHER
FAREWELL
In January, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Penn State,
formerly the Community Academy of Lifelong Learning (CALL), said
farewell to their longtime Office Manager of eight years, Ruthie
Carlson. Ruthie was credited with keeping the organization flowing
smoothly during their most rapid years of growth, but she as better
known for being the “friendly face” of CALL. Well
done, Ruthie! We’ll miss you.

Cheong Pak Chow, a member of the McGill Institute for Learning
in Retirement in Montreal has had an orchid named after him in
honor of his 80th birthday. The Orchid Registrar of the Royal
Horticultural Society announced that an orchid hybrid will be
called the Phalaenopsis Cheong Pak Chow.
