ABOUT THE CENTER FOR LIFETIME LEARNING

Palm Beach Community College, Lake Worth, Florida

The Center for Lifetime Learning (CLL) was founded by Etta Ress. Her vision was to start an educational program for retired persons by utilizing the special skills and talents of other retired persons as volunteer faculty. Not only has her dream been fully realized, it continues to surpass all expectations.

Courses begin at the end of October, and end at the beginning of April. Classes are held Monday-Thursday.

A summer session program is offered in June and July.

The program is unique in that it allows for classes to begin on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Every month may be considered a new semester. Persons may register any day.

The CLL offers over 75 courses, taught by over 60 faculty members and visiting Lecturers, the Annual Burning Issues Symposium, Forums, Spotlight on the Arts, a Speakers Bureau, a Distinguished Lecture Series, and the CLL’s Annual Senior Games.

Non-credit college level courses are offered. Their volunteer faculty teach with a passion not found in typical programs, on a variety of topics, both of contemporary interest as well as more traditional fields of study.

Their Speakers Bureau reaches out to churches, temples, clubs, groups, organizations, and community and/or special living facilities to provide speakers to fill their activity programs.

The public is invited to take part in all courses and special events at CLL.
