ICL GENEROSITY
Over the last 15 years, the Institute for Continuing Learning at Young
Harris College in Georgia has given the College a total of $76,000. Well
done, ICL in helping the College continue its mission. Congratulations!
20th ANNIVERSARY YEAR
Congratulations to the Academy for Lifelong Learning at Cape Cod College
in Massachusetts! 2007 is their 20th Anniversary Year! Twenty-two people
joined the first class in 1987 and today they have over 700 people actively
participating in the fall and/or spring classes. Classes are now held
on two campuses of the college and at a local senior center.
RISE CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY
The Rivier Institute for Senior Education (RISE) at Rivier College in
Nashua, NH celebrated part of their 10th anniversary with a Nicolai
Lomov Classical Concert. An acclaimed interpreter of Beethoven, Chopin,
Liszt, Gershwin, and the great Russian composers, Nicolai Lomov has
thrilled audiences from the concert halls of Moscow and Lenningrad to
Carnegie Hall in New York City.
CALL CELEBRATES 10 YEARS
The Community Academy for Lifelong Learning in State College, Pennsylvania
is celebrating its 10th Anniversary. CALL, a nonprofit, volunteer-driven
organization, whose mission is to provide mature adults with educational
and social enrichment opportunities that accentuate the joy of learning
and personal fulfillment partners with many local organizations. Among
their partners are Centre County United Way, Centre Region Senior Center,
PNC Bank, Penn State Continuing Ed, RSVP of Centre Country, South Hills
School for Business & Technology and several other community organizations.
AN OLLI SUCCESS STORY
Congratulations to Esther Gilbert, a 92 year-old member of the Osher
Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Esther began writing her life’s story in the OLLI course, Writing
Your Memoirs. With the kind assistance of classmates, her story is now
published into a book, High Notes and Low, Recollections of a Musical
Career. OLLI sponsored a reception and book-signing in Esther’s
honor in March, and she has been interviewed on the radio and in the
local newspaper.
