OSHER GRANT AWARDED
Congratulations to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University
of Alabama in Huntsville. They were recently awarded a second grant of
$100,000 by the Bernard Osher Foundation. Then they were notified that
the Foundation awarded a $1,000,000 endowment to UAH to support the OLLI
program. UAH entered into an agreement with the Foundation that stipulates
that UAH utilize the proceeds from the endowment to cover costs associated
with OLLI support. The university will provide the OLLI program with at
least 2,000 square feet of physical space for an office, a lounge and
storage. Finally there is a requirement that OLLI and UAH enter into a
long-term agreement. Space, which is closer to 5,000 feet, has already
been identified by the university and will provide OLLI with a permanent
home.
