Dorothy and Bob Dieter of Brookfield celebrate more than 75
Adventures with Elderhostel
Brookfield, Wis. (April
18, 2008) — Adventure-seekers Dorothy and Bob Dieter of
Brookfield have created countless memories by attending over 75
educational learning experiences with Elderhostel.
Dorothy first heard about Elderhostel from a friend at church,
and thought is was a good option to explore as she headed into
retirement. While attending a Taste of Door County program, Dorothy
learned the history of one of her favorite parts of Wisconsin,
while meeting memorable and interesting people. One person she
did not expect to meet along the way was her husband-to-be, Bob.
Together, the Dieters try to attend at least six educational
adventures a year. Their travels have not only brought them to
different regions of the United States, but also around the world.
Some of their favorite memories come from adventures in Italy,
where they explored the medieval villages and art of Tuscany,
and the unique culture and people of New Zealand. Most recently,
the Dieters headed to Florida for a six-day program, St. Augustine,
Visiting Micanopy, and Wild Florida, which revealed the hidden
treasures of the state. The adventure included learning the history
of the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine, taking a guided
walking tour through the town of Micanopy, and exploring the untamed
side of Florida by glass-bottom boat through Ocala National Forest.

“The things we like most about Elderhostel are the wide
variety of opportunities to see the world, the active programs,
and the all-inclusive nature of the programs,” Dorothy Dieter
says. “We learn and take away something new from each and
every program, and we get to do things we love. It is also a wonderful
thing to know that the details are taken care of and that you
have a local connection with each program coordinator, while at
a program.”
